Spring is here already, and now we’re waiting for the summer 🙂
Summer in Norway can literally be all kinds of weather, from temperatures close to freezing, and I’m not talking about highlands now, to the other end of the scale when it suddenly rises to 25-30C (77-86F) for a few days, and everyone forgets whatever they’re doing and runs outdoors to enjoy the weather. You never know, and it changes fast, and sometimes you feel like you’ve had all four seasons in one day!
Norway has a lot of mountains, and we love our mountains, and we love our cabins. It is more than 440 000 registered private cabins in Norway, for a population of 5,2 mill! In addition to that there is a lot of public cabins in the mountains for rent through tourist organizations and such. A popular recreational activity is therefor to go mountain hiking in the summer, or skiing in the winter season. If you own your own cabin, you most likely spend the most of your leisure time at the cabin, and enjoy activities like hiking. Another way is to walk from cabin to cabin, many of the public cabins are more like a small hotel with accommodation and and good food. And what would feel better after a long days walk in the highlands, than arriving to a welcoming cabin, where you can eat well and rest your feet on a comfortable bed at night!
This painting is inspired by the Norwegian highlands, where you will see plenty of rock, snow, ice water, moss and low vegetation, crisp clear air, and if you are lucky, you might spot a reindeer or two!
